Local contractor Yakka Contracting is doing minor flood resilience work in Kumeū as part of the council’s Making Space for Water programme.

The work clears debris and improves flow in streams feeding the Kumeū River — no earthworks along the river itself. Since December, around 10 tonnes of vegetation have been removed along a 575-metre stretch at Caspar Creek to reduce blockages.

Our Healthy Waters team and contractors will continue checking the area, including a drone survey over part of the river. ( Rodney Local Board copy)
