Budget Blowout Threatens SH16 Upgrade

We have been advised from discussions between the Rodney Local Board and Waka Kotahi (NZTA) that the project cost increases to stage 2 for the SH16 upgrade (Kumeu-Brighams Creek) threaten to delay the project by up to 6 years, if not cancel it altogether. Stage 2 was due for completion within the next 3 years. Waka Kotahi officials will meet in March to decide if our project is off the table for the 2021-2024 budget round. Kumeu Community action will post the email address for community members to send their concerns to. Please not that you should emphasise the SAFETY aspect of the SH16 upgrades and not the congestion, as this is the primary reason Waka Kotahi green lighted the spending originally.
